Lunar Eclipse Tonight, The chief of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration-Space Sciences and Astronomy Section (PAGASASSAS) said yesterday that stargazers expecting the total lunar eclipse tonight might get disappointed.

PAGASA said there is a slim chance that people will see the eclipse due to a low-pressure area (LPA) affecting the country, bringing cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers. He said the bad weather condition is expected to continue for the rest of the weekend.

“There is a slim chance that we will see the total lunar eclipse due to the bad weather. We expect this (bad weather) to continue for the rest of weekend,“ Dario dela Cruz, PAGASA SSAS chief, said. “But we’re still hoping that the weather will improve so that the eclipse could be visible,“ he said. Based on PAGASA’s astronomical diary, the total lunar eclipse will be visible in the country, beginning 7:33 p.m. tonight and ending 1:30 a.m. tomorrow. (Francis T. Wakefield)
