Texas Department Of Transportation, The Texas Department of Transportation TxDOT has worked around the clock trying to improve road conditions in time for the Super Bowl this weekend after a storm dumped ice and snow on the region. TxDOT crews used snowplows, deicing truck, and spreader boxes to try to clear roads for commuters and travelers in the region.

The Texas Department of Transportation closes Highway 77 and 83 Thursday mornings in Brownsville and Harlingen because of numerous shipwrecks in the region. TxDOT officials have asked the public to try to stay off the roads while mixing continued Friday with freezing rain and snow that prevented cleanup crews from clearing the roads around Dallas.

A hotline has been set up to check the condition of roads – Texas Road Conditions and Travel Information Line with a phone number of 1-800-452-9292.

Many colleges and universities in the region have closed campuses ttheir for the day due to extreme weather conditions on Friday.
The Texas Department of Transportation opened the Valley Highway shortly after noon on Friday.

The decision was taken after officials determined he was again able to drive on the roads, following the accumulation of ice storm of winter.

TxDOT spokeswoman Amy Rodriguez has also confirmed that the Queen Isabella Causeway is now open to traffic on two lanes.

Several bridges are also open to international traffic.

The Pharr and Anzalduas bridges, connecting the valley of Reynosa, are back open.

At that time, only the Los Indios Bridge and veterans Cameron County will remain closed until officials determine it is safe to drive over.

Louisiana State Police:Louisiana State Police Troop C is requesting assistance in solving a Hit-N-Run fatal crash that occurred on LA. 3235 near the Wal-Mart in Galliano, LA. The crash occurred on Friday, December 26, 2008 at approximately 7:05 p.m.

Mr. Dwain Carrell, 55, of Cut Off, LA. was removing debris from the inside lane (left lane) of LA. 3235 when struck by a 1998 Ford Escort, white, bearing Louisiana license plate SIJ396. The vehicle came back registered to a Santiago Osorio Rodriguez, owner and driver, last known address of 145 Terrebonne Lane Golden Meadow, LA.

Anyone one knowing anything about the crash or the whereabouts of Santiago Osorio Rodriguez, is asked to contact the Louisiana State Police Troop C at 985-857-3680 or the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigative Division at 985-876-8842.
