Lewinsky PBS Documentary, A new documentary about Bill Clinton has thrown the Monica Lewinsky scandal back into the limelight. PBS will air the documentary about the President on February 20-21, and it throws light on the infamous affair, which first made headlines in 1998 (and you thought you would never have to hear her name again).

Many people who were close to Bill Clinton thought that he had been set up by Monica Lewinsky or somebody else. They could not believe that he would risk his presidency over something like that. However, pollster Dick Morris said, “He [President Clinton] said, ‘Ever since I got here to the White House I’ve had to shut my body down sexually, I mean, but I screwed up with this girl. I didn’t do what they said I did, but I may have done so much that I can’t prove my innocence.'” Well, obviously some of this is more information than you may have wanted to know, but there it is.

Eventually, Morris advised the president to tell the truth, but unfortunately, Bill Clinton made the unforgettable statement that he “did not have sexual relations with that woman.” Ultimately, that ended up being what sunk him a bit with regard to the scandal and public opinion. The fact that he told the lie under oath later ended in him being the second-ever president to face impeachment.

It is interesting to look back at this Monica Lewinsky affair and the entire Clinton White House with more than a decade of time to look back with. It certainly puts things into perspective. Have you watched the PBS American Experience? Will you tune in next week to see this Clinton documentary?
