Fred Phelps, (AP) – An employee of the firm founded by anti-gay lawyer Fred Phelps Sr., said a white powder sent to the office does not present a danger for employees.

Rachel Hockenbarger, office spokeswomanfor Phelps Chartered law, said the FBI tests on the powder proved negative.

She said an envelope containing the powder was opened by an employee of 11 hours on Tuesday. The room was closed, and Topeka police, fire department hazardous materials unit and an FBI agent were called.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that the police left the law firm of approximately 3 hours and staff was able to return to work.

Hockenbarger said she believes that the powder was sent in response to members of the Westboro Baptist Church Phelps argued before the Supreme Court of the United States on Wednesday in a case involving a father who sued the church pickets strike at the funeral of his son.
