Largest Saltwater CrocodileLargest Saltwater Crocodile, A giant saltwater crocodile weighing more than a ton has been captured in a remote village in southern Philippines, after a series of attacks on humans and animals, authorities said.

Measuring 6.4 million (21 feet) and a weight of 1,075 kg (2.370 pounds), is the largest to be caught alive in the Philippines in recent years.

It may also be the largest show ever captured, authorities said.

Saltwater crocodiles can live for over 100 years and grow to 23 feet (7 meters).

Josefina de Leon, chief of the Division of Wildlife Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environment and Wildlife, said it was likely that the largest crocodile ever caught.

“Based on existing records, the largest that had been captured previously 5.48m (18 feet) long,” he told AFP.

“This is the largest animal in 20 years I have managed to capture.”

The search of crocodiles in the village of Bunaw began in mid-August and took dozens of local men to secure his capture on Saturday.

However, Rollie Sommelier Crocodile Hunter, who led the search, said the reptile might not be the murderer who has been looking after at least one attack a human was reported in the area.

“We’re not really sure if this is the devourer of men, because there have been other sightings of crocodiles in the area,” he told AFP.

The crocodile captured now become the main attraction in a natural park planned in the area.
