Darlene Love, The Ronettes, the singing of “Be My Baby” and Darlene Love sued Phil Spector, who is in prison for murder in California, for unpaid royalties on the songs recorded in the 1960s, at least their third case against the producer music.

The plaintiffs, who include ex-wife Ronnie Spector Greenfield, accused in a complaint filed yesterday in state court in New York in violation of a 2009 order requiring him amicably to pay royalties twice a year.

“Defendants have generated millions of dollars through the sale of music recordings applicants, but paid only a fraction of the royalties,” the singers said in the complaint.

Spector last year was sentenced to 19 years to life for the 2003 death shooting of actress Lana Clarkson in his mansion hours after meeting at a nightclub. He appealed his conviction.

In a 2006 decision, the Ronettes were awarded a lump sum payment for royalties and interest. After Spector does not have to pay additional fees required, another complaint was filed in 2008 and another resolution was followed in 2009, according to the complaint.

Required royalty statements were inaccurate, resulting in “gross underpayment,” the group alleged, and requiring at least 600,000 in damages.

In addition to producers, the defendants include his wife, Rachelle Spector, and its businesses, Phil Spector Records, Phil Spector companies, Phillies Back to Mono Records and Music. Rachelle Spector Phil manages activities, according to the complaint.

Inspectors’ lawyer

Michael Dempsey, a lawyer for Phil Spector and Rachelle said he had not seen the complaint and declined comment.

Spector has been credited to the production of dozens of successful albums in the 1960s using what is called a “wall of sound.” Singers were accompanied by an orchestra and the guitars playing the same parties and recorded using an echo chamber.

Love sang with group’s flowers, Crystals and Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans. Hits The Crystals “included” Da Doo Ron Ron “.

The Ronettes are Ronnie Greenfield, the late Estelle Bennett, Ronnie’s sister, whose estate continues, and their cousin Nedra Talley Ross.

Fanita James, who sang with the flowers and Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans, is another applicant.

Copyright on the songs are owned by EMI Music Publishing, a unit of Terra Firma Capital Partners Ltd., and the Phillies Records catalog is distributed by Sony Corp. Sony Music Entertainment, according to the suit.

The case is Love v. Spector, 652227-2010, Supreme Court of New York, New York County (Manhattan). An earlier case was Greenfield v. Phillies Records, 000763-1988, Supreme Court of New York.
