Kirk Cameron PSA

Kirk Cameron PSA, Back in the ’80s and ’90s, Kirk Cameron was a teenage heartthrob thanks to his role in Growing Pains, but lately he’s been causing pulses to race with his increasingly controversial views — like, say, his stance that homosexuality is “unnatural” and “ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

Not all former child stars feel the same way, and so a group of them banded together to make a (fake) PSA for Funny or Die to raise awareness for their new organization: Child Celebrities Opposing Kirk Cameron, or CCOKC for short.

Out Of This World’s Maureen Flannigan, Adventures in Babysititng’s Keith Coogan, The Parent ‘Hood’s Kenn Michael, Mr. Belvedere’s Brice Beckham, Step By Step’s Christine Lakin, Charles In Charge’s Josie Davis and The Hogan Family’s Jeremy Licht all came together to speak out against Cameron in the joke PSA. But the thing is, it doesn’t really feel like it’s all a joke. In fact, these former child stars seem to be pretty serious about separating themselves from Cameron’s comments.

“Look, we’ve met Kirk and he’s a very pleasant guy,” says Licht. Lakin continues, “The problem is he’s one of us. And he should know better.”

The actors involved in the interview bash Cameron’s comments by saying that the “foundations of civilization” he cites were largely set up by the Greeks, who have many recorded homosexual tendencies. They also point out that they and Cameron worked with many gay people while they were growing up in the entertainment industry, and for the most part they were all really great people.
