Ken Griffey Jr. Wife, Ken Griffey Jr. fans now have a reason to root for the Arizona Wildcats as it was recently announced that Junior’s son, Trey Griffey, has committed to play for Arizona and new head coach Rich Rodriguez.

The 6-2, 190 pound Griffey broke out after transferring from West Orange High in Winter Garden, FL to Dr. Phillips High in Orlando in 2011. Griffey shined to say the least, simply setting new school records with 72 catches for 970 yards. He also caught 11 touchdown and played safety passes for his 10-2 team.

But Griffey noted he could have followed the path of his dad, and his grandfather before that, but insisted on playing football after all:

“At first, all I wanted to do was play baseball, but as I got older, my dad told me, ‘you have to choose the sport you want to play.’ I said I want to play football. Once I turned 11, I was done with baseball.”

Griffey has also been catching the attention of people like ESPN analyst and former NFL wide out Keyshawn Johnson:
