Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City ChiefsKansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman had a successful pre-season NFL game. The Kansas City Chiefs have been too busy scolding, stumbling, awkward and fumbling.

Freeman completed 9 of 13 passes for 73 yards in the quarter, a more action than the Bucs blanked the wrong prey Chiefs 25-0, Friday night at Arrowhead Stadium.

Freeman never played in a football game at Arrowhead, just a short drive on the road to where he played in high school in Grandview. Freeman took the opportunity to play against his aura local team while leading the Bucs back and forth.

“It was pretty cool, especially climbing,” said Freeman, fourth record at Kansas State (2006-08). “I grew up going to games here, so it was a great experience.

“I had a chance to go home (at Grandview). We had a lot of free time (Friday afternoon), so I ran home and hung out with some family and friends. It was great to be back. ”

With the Bucs coming off a 10-6 season, Freeman has shown its leadership by featuring workouts during the off-season when the league locked out was outstanding.

This is something that has carried over on the field of practice at training camp with the Bucs, “as he is the undisputed leader on the offense.

“We are made up,” Bucs receiver Mike Williams said. “Josh (Freeman) out there, he always put everyone down and ready to run the plays.

“With limited play, it can be difficult to get into a rhythm, but I felt good.”

Freeman said he gradually found his rhythm.

“A couple of early shots were a bit far, but mostly, it felt great,” he said. “I felt I saw the field clearly and made the plays and it felt great to be there.”

One of its main targets against the Chiefs in Kansas was the former wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe, who had four, passes for 60 yards.

“He’s really done a great job,” said Freeman of Briscoe. “In the absence of Arrelious (Benn), it’s really stepped up in a key contributor in the camp and again (on Friday).”

Once rivals, Briscoe and cornerback Aqib Talib are on the same team as Freeman.

“When I arrived, there was a lot of controversy with Kansas and Kansas State thing, but we did a lot of bonding,” said Briscoe. “We’re good friends now.”

Freeman shrugged any notion of anything.

“I like man these guys,” said Freeman. “Dezmon and Aqib are two of my best friends on the team.”

As leaders, it was a bastard of exposure, although not playing with a full deck against the Bucs. Running back Jamaal Charles has never carried the ball, Dwayne Bowe receiver has never caught a pass and quarterback Matt Cassel has never started a pass and was unimpressive in three properties before making an early exit.

“We have one under our belt,” head coach Todd Haley leaders said. “He’s not going exactly how we wanted to go.

“Every time we come here, especially in our own stadium, we’d go out on the winning end. This did not happen tonight for a number of different reasons. ”

Cassel fumbled away the opening game of their second possession, the first of two fumbles lost in a neighborhood setting for your first Chiefs.

“The No. 1 was turning the ball over early, allowing you to beat most of the time in the NFL – a lesson learned there for a lot of these guys,” said Haley. “Not being able to protect your quarterback will get you beat most of the time, not to attack you will beat most of the time in the NFL. “I thought those were the most glaring gaps here tonight. Turn the ball over is a problem, so we have a lot of work to do. We knew we had a lot of work to do coming into this match “.

Cassel came fumble deep in Kansas City territory, line 9 yards and quickly led to the first touchdown of the night. Freeman scored on a run of five yards for a lead of 7-0 with 11:16 left in the first quarter. The game, he declined to go and sit in the pocket before coasting down the left sideline on a bootleg and stretching his right hand in the goal line to score.

Cassel has played one more series before leaving the game. 8 – and 17 passing yards running back Thomas Jones, the only door on the night, pointed it out.

But running back Jackie Battle fumbled near midfield at the end of a 5-yard gain on second-and-10 and the Bucs recovered. Battle was first considered by the contact, but Tampa Bay appealed the play and it was reversed. Replays clearly showed the ball came out before the battle came down.

The Bucs marched 42 yards in eight have parts to make it 10-0 after recovering Elbert Mack corner of Battle escaped. Freeman an incomplete third-and-7 pass before the first of two goals in the field by Connor Barth, 25 yards for a lead of 10-0 at the 4:35 mark of the first quarter.

Barth was also a 40-yard field goal with 11:19 remaining in the second quarter for a lead of 13-0.

Tyler Palko quart leaders alternated with rookie Ricky Stanza in a battle for the position of backup that never materialized on this night. Palko was sacked in the end zone with 4:48 left in the half to make it 15-0.

That lead to the break occurred before the Bucs scored 10 points in the second half both teams substituted liberally.

Undoubtedly, Haley said he was disappointed his team show.

“I do not think you ever saw it coming,” he said. “You do not want to do, especially on your own land. That said, this is the first, not the last.

“What is important is that our guys recognize that they have a lot of work ahead of them and a little time to do so. Our goal is to be ready to go on September 11th here in Arrowhead (against the Bills Buffalo) and we have much work and little time to do it. ”
