Juanma Lopez Vs Salido

March 11, 2012 by · Comments Off on Juanma Lopez Vs Salido

Juanma Lopez Vs Salido, Last year was not a very good one for Juanma Lopez, the warrior from Caguas, Puerto Rico.

His divorce and custody battle with ex-wife Barbara De Jesus had a most detrimental effect on Lopez, which many fans and critics would argue was the primary reason for Juanma’s flat and listless performance on April 16th, 2011, against the current 126 pound champion.

Tonight at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Juan Manuel Lopez (31-1, 28 KOs) will attempt to avenge the only loss on his resume and reclaim his position as one of boxing’s top fighters as he challengers the WBO Featherweight Champion Orlando Salido (37-11-25 KOs).

Veteran trainer James Gogue analyzes the big rematch between the two heated rivals, which is scheduled to be televised this evening at 10:00 PM EST/PST on Showtime premium cable network in the United States.

Lopez vs Salido I
“The first fight between the two fighters ended controversially,” explains the 29 year experienced trainer. “The third man in the ring stepped in when Juanma was still defending himself and in my opinion stopped the fight prematurely. I feel that the world of boxing might have missed out on a very dramatic ending to an already spectacular bout.”

“Even though Juanma was hurt, the Puerto Rican fighter was still throwing punches and the contest was even on all judges’ scorecards. Although I feel the bout was halted too hastily, fight fans are fortunate to witness both men in the ring, at the very least, one more time.”

Puerto Rican – Mexican Rivalry
James Gogue observes the heated rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico and believes the competitive nations add more drama to the already intriguing rematch.

“Puerto Rican and Mexican fighters have tangled several times and have treated fans to exciting, action filled matches. This impassioned feud between Juanma and Salido simply adds to the rich boxing history between the two great fight nations. Chavez/ Rosario, Margarito/Cotto, Chavez/Camacho, Margarito/Cintron, Kid Azteca/Cocoa Kid, Segura/Calderon, and Lopez/Fuentes are just some of the many great battles that these two countries have given the boxing world.”

“Two warriors like Juanma Lopez and Orlando Salido have the true potential to create an epic trilogy due to the heart, toughness, and styles of both fighters. But, we’ll have a greater understanding of this after the two fighters mesh tonight in the squared circle.”

Even though the two proud warriors are closely matched, Gogue reviews the fighters’ strengths and weaknesses while pointing out definitive keys to victory for both men.
