Mary Ann Mobley, TV personality Gary Collins was charged with leaving the scene of an accident in Jackson, police said.

Collins is married to Mary Anne Mobley Mississippi native, actress and Miss America 1959.

Collins is accused of rear-ending a car driven by Cheryl Hales at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 55 near Old Canton Road facade. After the collision, Collins left the scene before police arrived, said Hales.

Jackson police had not arrested Collins on Thursday afternoon. Jackson spokesman Police Officer Colendula Green said officers were waiting for a judge to sign a warrant.

“The agents of the City, or the judicial officer, will now pick up. It will be treated and arrested,” said Green.

Once the warrant is issued, Collins will be responsible for leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor, “said Green.

WAPT Kathryn Kight talked with Hales’s husband, Perry, on Wednesday.

“He did not fear for my wife’s welfare. He was not afraid for my child well being. He just again, got into his vehicle and left, and I’m a little angry about it,” Perry Hales said.

In an interview Wednesday with Kight, Collins admitted that he ran to the back of the car and then fled Hales. He said police took too long and the Hales family never approached him.

“One would think that if you were in an accident like this, someone said:” I realize that it is your fault, but are you OK? “But nobody does that. I think it the courtesy thing to do if someone would have said: “We’ll get this thing resolved. We called the police and they go out,” said Collins.

In 2009, Collins was charged with driving under the influence after being arrested while driving a site in Santa Monica, California, he did not contest the charge offense has been sentenced to 120 days house arrest arrest. In 2007, Collins was charged with a DUI accident in California that killed a motorist 89 years. But he was not at fault.

In 2002, a judge authorized the Mississippi Collins charges of driving while intoxicated Simpson County.

Perry Hales said he wants a judge to demand accountability Collins.

“I’m not only concerned about my family’s welfare, but based on history, it is very likely happen again,” said Hales.

Perry Hales said he smelled of alcohol when he spoke to Collins at the scene of the accident, but Collins said he had not been drinking before the crash.

“We have no evidence at this time to show he had drunk during the incident,” said Green.
