Coppell MayorCoppell Mayor:(New York Daily News) — A Texas mayor and her teenage daughter were found shot to death at his home Tuesday night and police are investigating as a possible murder-suicide, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Police found Coppell Mayor Jayne Peters, 55, and Corrine Peters, 19, both shot in the head after council members worried the mayor did not attend a meeting.

Police officers found no evidence of forced entry.

“At this point, all I can really say is that the investigation is incomplete,” Logan said the newspaper. “There are lots of things we have to look at.”

Peters had been mayor of Coppell – a city with a population of about 40,000 just 15 miles northwest of Dallas – since 2009. She also served on the city council for over a decade and was a software developer contract.

Peters and his daughter, who graduated high school in May, were active in their community and church.

Peters’ husband died of cancer in 2008.

Clay Phillips, manager of the city of Coppell, called the death “a tremendous loss for the city, community and region.”

Mayor Logan described as pleasant and professional, a subsidiary of CBS. She said it was still trying to understand what happened.

“It’s a tremendous loss not only from the standpoint of the employee, but the point of view of the community and a staff that actually lost’m just trying to get a hold of now, my arms around her, find out what happened and what we do next, “said Mayor Logan.Un Texas and her teenage daughter were found shot to death at his home Tuesday night and police are investigating as a possible murder-suicide, according to the Dallas Morning News .
