A Charlie Brown Christmas

A Charlie Brown Christmas, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” – CONGRESS: Where is Christmas? I am trying to get into the appropriate SPIRIT of Christmas. I was in that healthy SPIRIT after watching the “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and then I read the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s EDITORIAL today which awakened me from my dream. It awakened me back to REALITY on December 6, 2011. S-EX-LP!

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” on ABC – TV last evening enkindled that S-EX-ALTHY SPIRIT for me.

And then, I read the wonderful reprint of Michael Cavna’s blog in the Washington Post, “’A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS’: The gospel truth behind how a humble ‘Peanuts’ holiday classic defied the odds.”

I had not realized the “rest of the story” about the Christmas special I have watched year-after-year since BEFORE my own children were watching it.

I was keenly attuned to Charles Schultz’s “PEANUTS” cartoons and aware that he was a regular Sunday School teacher. In fact, I lectured at the “Anderson University” in Anderson, IN – a college of the Church of God – Anderson, IN. after I hosted an “Inside Government” political science field study for a Political Science class from the University during my graduate studies at The American University, Washington, DC.

After that the class with their professors arranged for me to deliver a special guest lecture dealing with Christian Social Ethics/Values and our US Government.

The icing on the cake with that trip was to meet Charles Schulz in person. He was an active member of the Church of God – Anderson, IN. He was a student of The Bible and one sees biblical concepts – messages in PEANUTS systematically. In fact, so much so that Robert L. Short wrote several books about PEANUTS and the Bible, including: “The Gospel According to Peanuts,” “The Parables According to Peanuts” and “The Bible According to Peanuts.” I have read these books with much appreciation and recommend them to you. You will find them listed on the Amazon.com webpage I linked above featuring Robert L. Short.
