Israel SanctionsIsrael Sanctions, The Turkish prime minister said Tuesday that the country went to naval operations in the eastern Mediterranean, and warned that further sanctions would be slapped against Tel Aviv after the Israeli government’s refusal to apologize for the slaughter of Mavi Marmara.

Recep Erdogan called Israel a “spoiled child” and a supporter of “state t*rror*sm” and said Ankara would stop trade-related “defense.”

“Israel has always acted like a spoiled child in the face of all UN decisions concerning you. It means you can continue acting like a spoiled child and get away with it.”

Israeli navy near the coast protects and enforces the blockade of Gaza, but has a significant naval presence in the eastern Mediterranean.

Alon Liel, former Israeli ambassador to Turkey, said a conflict at sea was a possibility.

“I do not dare to enter Israeli waters,” Liel told reporters in Jerusalem.

But he said that Turkey may try to alter the future gas exports from Israel to Cyprus, and warned of a new Turkish-Egyptian alliance which could isolate Israel in the Mediterranean.

A UN report published last week, said Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza was a “legitimate security measure,” but also called the attack on the flotilla that attempted to break the blockade “excessive and unreasonable.”

He also said that Turkey and the flotilla organizers contributed to the bloodshed.

Israel has accepted the UN report, though with reservations. Turkey has rejected.

Erdogan has said the “report means nothing to us.”
