Isley Brother DiedIsley Brother Died:The Isley Brothers have lost their groovemaster.

Marvin Isley, the youngest of the brothers R & B bass lines provide the punch that helped propel the success of the band success in the 70s and early 80s, died on Sunday morning. He was 56.

Cousin and keyboardist Chris Jasper Isley told the New York Times that Marvin died in a hospice inpatient at Weiss Memorial Hospital, where he had been residing after suffering complications from diabetes.

The illness forced him to retire Isley in 1996 and it took the legs, which had to be amputated, and the use of his left hand. He had also been affected in recent years by high blood pressure and stroke.

In his days as a major player, however, Isley bass could be heard in the classics of the past few days the whole band, like “Fight the power part 1,” “The Pride (Part 1)”, “I Want to Be With You (Part 1) “and” Between the Sheets. ”

Marvin was born August 18, 1953, and grew up in Englewood, New Jersey. After striking out as part of a trio with brother Ernie and cousin Chris, the trio joined his older brothers in 1973, had had success with such seminal tracks like “Shout,” “Twist and Shout” and “It’s Your Thing” in the 60s.

The new lineup would release 3 + 3, his first platinum album. After years of touring and recording, the Isleys fractured with Marvin, Chris, and forming the group Ernie Isley-Jasper-Isley, who manages the charts R & B hit, “Caravan of Love.”

Marvin returned to the main group in 1991 and continued to play up until his diagnosis. The Isley Brothers were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
