The phone will work for now on the 3G network of Verizon, not faster 4G LTE carrier’s infrastructure. The agreement is nonexclusive; it is possible that other carriers using the CDMA standard wireless (Sprint) could also get the iPhone at some point.

4 iPhone on Verizon comes with an app that allows the phone to double as a mobile hotspot wireless for up to five devices, although the carrier does not say how much it will cost feature. Verizon has spent the first part of the event touting the strength of its network in a constructive search for AT & T.

On the downside, CDMA precludes simultaneous voice and data usage on the iPhone 4 Verizon.

IPhone, Verizon has a reworked version of the antenna, although details are scarce.

Apple COO Tim Cook joined Verizon Chairman Lowell McAdam on stage to answer questions and make the announcement. No appearance by Steve Jobs, contrary to some predictions.

Verizon Iphone, Verizon Wireless will begin selling Apple Inc. iPhone early next month, ending rival AT & T Inc. sole custody of the aircraft in the United States and more than double the potential customers for the touchscreen smartphone.

The iPhone 4 will be available on Verizon’s network on February 10 with pre-orders for existing customers starting line on February 3, the companies said in a statement today. The phone will start to 199.99 with a two-year wireless service.

Verizon, the largest U.S. mobile carrier, will begin offering the smartphone for nearly four years after its debut on the network of AT & T in 2007. Apple will have an opportunity for the first time to sell to customers of Verizon Wireless. Verizon could sell 13 million iPhones in the first year, “said John Hodulik, an analyst at UBS AG.

“This is a milestone for the industry,” Lowell McAdam, president and chief operating officer at parent Verizon Communications Inc., said in the statement, calling Apple device “one of the most important technological additions in the landscape mobile. ”

Verizon Communications, which co-owns Basking Ridge, New Jersey Verizon Wireless with Vodafone Group Plc, fell 76 cents to 35.16 and 11:55 in New York Stock Exchange. The shares were little changed this year before today.

AT & T $ History

AT & T $ made several concessions when it won exclusive rights to the iPhone. He started sharing revenue with Apple wireless services, according to statements from AT & T CEO Randall Stephenson at the time, if it ended this practice in 2008.

AT & T has Cupertino, Calif., to manage the Apple iTunes software loaded on the phone, a step that led to the Apple App Store for mobile applications. And AT & T $ subsidizes the iPhone, Apple and pay about 600 for each phone it sells to customers for wireless and 199, as analysts say Hodulik.

The iPhone helped AT & T Dallas add subscribers as well as the U.S. mobile market is approaching saturation. There are plenty of wireless devices for more than nine out of 10, according to the association CTIA wireless industry.

The iPhone will allow Verizon to add 2.1 million net new subscribers in 2011, estimates Hodulik, compared to an estimated 650,000 T. AT & This marks the first time Verizon subscriber growth will exceed its biggest rival since 2008.

Grant Verizon’s iPhone will be about $ 400, estimates Hodulik. That would mean Verizon might pay a total of over $ 5 billion and grants if it sells 13 million iPhones, as he projects.

Apple vs Google

For Apple, the move to the country’s largest mobile phone operator will help them compete for market share against Google Inc and Research In Motion Ltd. last week, comScore Inc said Google’s Android software in mind the number of subscribers iPhone smartphone U.S. for the first time, representing 26 percent of the market, compared to 25 percent for Apple. BlackBerry maker Research In Motion has the top spot with 33.5 percent.

“That will only increase competition with Android, although carriers have multiple partners is likely to loosen the level of control Apple has been more iPhone customers,” said Noah Elkin, an analyst at researcher eMarketer.

Apple will now be able to sell at 93, 2 million customers of Verizon Wireless, which has strongly encouraged smartphones running Android. AT & T, the second largest mobile operator, had 92.8 million customers at the end of September.

Verizon Press Conference

January 11, 2011 by · Comments Off on Verizon Press Conference

Verizon Press Conference, (The Orlando Sentinel – McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) – Verizon Wireless will offer the Apple iPhone in stores early next month.
The announcement was made this morning during a highly anticipated press conference in New York.
This completes AT & T exclusive custody of the iPhone – much the phone company has had since 2007.
The iPhone will cost Verizon and 199 for 16 GB and 299 GB for 32 with a two-year contract.
“Today we work in partnership with industry giant, and it’s Apple,” Lowell McAdam, Verizon Chief Operating Officer and President, said at the announcement.
Starting February 3, current customers of Verizon can pre-order the iPhone. February 10, everyone will be able to order the iPhone online and in stores.
It will be almost the same characteristics as the current iPhone, 4 including FaceTime cat video and high-resolution display Retina.
According to CNET, a survey showed that about 23 percent of AT & T customers with the iPhone can switch to Verizon once the smartphone is released. Some say that AT & T $ take a hit but not a big hit now that Verizon has the iPhone, too.
It will work on Verizon’s CDMA network, which means that users cannot multi-task. For example, if a user receives a call while using the data – the data stops.
A major difference between AT & T iPhone and the Verizon version of the iPhone is that Verizon will have a personal Wi-Fi hotspot that can support up to five devices.

Verizon Iphone Release Date

January 10, 2011 by · Comments Off on Verizon Iphone Release Date

Verizon Iphone Release Date, Again, the rumor mill provides us with new Verizon Wireless iPhone. Now it seems almost certain that the release date of the iPhone Verizon is confirmed. But is it an iPhone 3G CDMA 4 or iPhone 4G LTE 5, we wonder? In IT Blogwatch, bloggers cannot wait until tomorrow’s media event supposedly Verizon seeds.

Your humble Blogwatch Bloggy organized these bits for your entertainment. Not forgetting why is it so few good code? .
(VZ) (AAPL) (T)

Verizon is inviting journalists to an event [tomorrow] … during which Lowell McAdam, President & COO of Verizon, will speak. … A person familiar with the matter … said Verizon will announce availability of the iPhone on its network.

The rumors about a Verizon iPhone arose almost steadily since the initial launch of the iPhone. … In December, Verizon began rolling at high speed LTE (Long Term Evolution) wireless technology. … We do not know if [the] announcement next week would an iPhone compatible LTE.
Verizon Wireless, the largest country in mobile phone provider, is confident enough in its network that offers unlimited data usage plans when it begins selling the iPhone late this month. … AT & T $ has struggled to overcome complaints about the quality of the network since its debut exclusively selling the iPhone in the U.S. in 2007.

AT & T has acknowledged having underestimated the stress of the iPhone would be on its network. The carrier has boosted spending this year … but still struggling with the perception of its network is low. … AT & T $ says its network is faster and has advantages such as allowing users to surf the Web while talking on the phone.
AT & T PR boss Larry Solomon met with a statement: “The iPhone is designed for speed, but that’s not what you get with a CDMA phone, I’m not sure iPhone users are ready for Life in the slow lane. ”

Besides the fact that Solomon confirmed that Verizon is getting the iPhone, it is also the first shot in the next war for iPhone owners.
While the iPhone Verizon has a negative impact on AT & T, it’s not going to break the T & return. … Switching costs are simply too high. … AT & T $ has made a smart business decision last year: they ran installation costs of the iPhone early termination.

When the 5 iPhone runs this summer, the two networks will pull all stops. … AT & T $ is low on some powerful phones to complement the iPhone. Motorola debuts ATRIX 4G … the best phone in its debut at CES, and it is exclusive to AT & T.
A point for contention is whether it will run on the new 4G LTE network launched. I do not know why. CEO of Verizon already basically said he would. … Seidenberg told investors Verizon had to “win” and that the iPhone 4G could push Apple to see the light. … The rapid launch of LTE provides Verizon’s statement in a new light. Verizon has launched LTE and they are about to announce their iPhone. Cannot say it’s a coincidence.

The new network will enable simultaneous voice and data. Why is this a big deal? Because the iPhone currently allows users to access the Internet during a call, something that 3G CDMA does not work.

Verizon Iphone

January 10, 2011 by · Comments Off on Verizon Iphone

Verizon Iphone, (AP) – Gadgets revealed at the annual International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas flop most often they pop. The event this year, however, yielded numerous products that are required to make a difference for years to come.

Microsoft provided a glimpse at a radically new version of Windows, Verizon has demonstrated the first consumer gadgets to a wireless network that is faster in many cases of wired broadband, and many manufacturers have found tablet computers with the ability to Apple iPad give a run for its money.

The show itself, the largest exhibition in the Americas, was back in high form after two lean years. An estimate pre-show participation in more than 126,000 people, and the crowd was the presence high above, but perhaps not as many as 141,150 people who showed in 2008.

Here are the facts do not miss the show, which ended Sunday:

-Tablets.

Touch Screen Tablet PCs packed entertainment, such as brand names, large and small showed a lot of devices to compete with Apple Inc. iPad.

From the material standpoint, companies touted features IPAD does not like front and rear cameras to-face video chat and take high-definition video and the ability to run on wireless carriers and new future high speed networks, so called 4G.

Regarding software, the next version of Google Inc. Honeycomb ‘s Android software seemed a popular choice. Many of the tablets unveiled – as Xoom Mobility Motorola Inc. – will be held in the honeycomb, which are more oriented pills those current versions of Android, which has its roots in smart phones and their small screens.

Some tablets found work in the Microsoft Corp. Windows PC 7, though. And the playbook based business 4G, which comes from BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Inc., works with RIM’s own software.

– First consumer Verizon 4G devices.

Verizon Wireless turned on its 4G network in December, with limited coverage, but data speeds unmatched. The network uses fresh, deserted the spectrum and is designed from scratch to carry data, resulting in connections that in many cases beat the speed of DSL and cable modems. (In the long term, with more people on the network, Verizon provides download speeds averaging 5 to 12 megabits per second, comparable to non-premium cable modems.)

For now, the only plug-in notebook modems may benefit, but the show, Verizon announced smartphones from Motorola, LG Electronics Inc., HTC Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. is scheduled to arrive in the first half of year, and two tablets.

However, Verizon quickly won its own thunder by inviting journalists to a second press conference Tuesday in New York, less than a week after her big revelation in Las Vegas. It is generally believed that Verizon will announce it will begin selling the iPhone from Apple Inc., now available in the U.S. exclusively through rival AT & T Inc. The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that this is the case.

AT & T $ is building its own 4G network, and plans to be operational this summer. In the meantime, he told the show he starts calling its 3G network “4G”.

– Windows running on cell phone chips.

The computers looked semi-finished, with exposed components, and ran what looked like plain vanilla “Windows 7. Under the hood, even if these computers have components that signal a major change for Microsoft and the PC industry.

Instead of running on processors from Intel Corp. or Advanced Micro Devices Inc., the pillars of Windows PCs in three decades, these computers were running on chips for mobile phone-style designs based on ARM Holdings PLC. This could mean that laptops and tablets with the battery life longer and give Windows a better chance of gaining ground in emerging tablet computers.

Of Apple Inc. hit iPad tablet runs on an ARM-based chip, which is part of the reason; it can take 10 hours on one charge. Microsoft did not say when an ARM version of Windows might be available, but indicated that it is at least a year.

– Intel and AMD strike back.

Intel and AMD, whose processors are the “brains” of PCs, has unveiled new chips with significant design changes, partly to help repel the threats of tablets and smartphones. The idea is to make traditional, low-cost computers using their chips more competitive with mobile devices.

New designs promise to make computers more graphics-intensive tasks and video playback. Intel and AMD are doing this by bringing graphics capabilities, traditionally managed by a separate chip on silicon as the main computer, the general-purpose processor. This means that data move faster.

An additional advantage is the lifetime of the battery, an important quality if these chips must be competitive with those used in tablets. With functions on the same chip, the power parties need to talk to each other is reduced.

– TV 3-D glasses with movie.

Last year’s big new thing in televisions, 3-D, failed as manufacturers had hoped. A problem could be cumbersome, expensive glasses, sets need batteries. This year, LG Electronics Inc. is trying a different perspective on 3-D, with light, cheap glasses of the type used in movie theaters.

Vizio Inc. already sells such a set, and Samsung Electronics Co. has announced it is working on similar technology. In the version LG and Vizio technology, the screen resolution is halved, but not everyone will notice. The flicker effect sometimes produced by the batteries is missing glasses, glasses and lighter also does not darken the image as much.

– Free TV on the go.

TV signals are adding to their towers that are designed to be picked up by portable gadgets such as small televisions, laptops and cell phones.

We do not know the public interest will be in this technology. A previous attempt to distribute television signals subscription gadgets failed for lack of interest. But policymakers, including gadget Audivox and LG are moving forward, offering consumers a range of “Mobile DTV gadgets this year. They range from portable television sets of plug-in antennas IPAD.

A major obstacle to technology is that cell phone carriers are not interested in selling phones with mobile digital TV receivers.

– The high-speed color printing.

It’s not often that a new printing technology arises. After all, both inkjet and laser printing have been with us for decades. Now a startup, Memjet promises a significant twist on the inkjet printing. This technology allows a desktop printer to spit out one page per second in color at low cost.

Instead of having a printhead that moves back and forth on the page, it has a head that is fixed and covers the entire page. The printer should be on the U.S. market this year with an undisclosed partner, and price around 600.
