I’m A Celebrity Final, Coronation Street’s Antony Cotton was left “gutted” after missing out on the I’m A Celebrity final by one day.  The 36-year-old hugged the other contestants when he was told his time in the jungle was up.

Antony, who plays Sean Tully in Corrie, said: “I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve come this far. I’d never thought about the final from the get-go until last night.” He added: “I’m gutted but I did what I could do. I’m amazed that I lasted that long.”

Despite being a fan of the show, he said it was impossible to prepare for being in the jungle, which was “emotional and exciting”.

He went on: “I suppose it’s at once the most liberating feeling you can ever have and then on the other side you feel like you’re locked in and you can’t run away.”

Fatima Whitbread had earlier described life in the jungle as “the most wonderful experience I’ve ever had”.

The remaining contestants have all been analysing their time on the show, with Mark Wright saying the experience had “110% made me a better person”.

Dougie Poynter admitted he believed he had made a mistake when he first arrived, saying he thought “I have nothing in common with these people”, while Antony revealed he had “no regrets”.

But the drama had not ended for the final four, as they arranged themselves in order of energy and speed to face a celebrity cyclone bushtucker trial.

They donned superhero costumes to face the challenge, which involved placing stars on four markers within 10 minutes while battling strong winds, gym balls and water.

Antony was given the easiest task, followed by Dougie and Mark. There were just 60 seconds left on the clock when Whitbread powered through the elements to reach her marker.

“What a triumphant day that was,” she said. Four stars, I can’t wait to get our meal tonight.”

Mark said: “That was one of the best things I have ever done.”
