Hulk Hogan SurgeryHulk Hogan Surgery, According to TMZ.com, one of the foremost celebrity news sites on the internet, former Heavyweight Champion of the world, Hulk Hogan, recently underwent surgery because his dentist left a tack in his face. Hogan, who turned 58 last August, has been dealing with dental problems since October, when he had a sinus graft procedure completed. As a devotee of pro wrestling for over 20 years, and a self proclaimed “hulkamaniac”, it’s disheartening to watch my childhood hero fall apart.

Hulk Hogan was the superstar that attracted me to the sport of pro wrestling. The blond hair, the bronzed body, and the mass of muscle he was a Saturday morning cartoon character come to life. When it seemed like all the injustice in the world was crashing down around the WWE, the energetic “Hulkster” would stand tall and put a cease to it all. With his American Flag in one hand, and his other hand pointing to his opponent in fair warning, Hogan would march to the ring, rhythmically bouncing to his contagious entrance theme “Real American.” And once he tore his shirt, a trademark that made him famous, you knew the bad guy was about to get his butt kicked.

Even as late as 2005, the magic of Hulk Hogan and “Hulkamania” were still prevalent. Hogan returned to the WWE in 2005 to feud with the cocky and arrogant bad guy Shawn Michaels. At Summerslam 2005, at the age of 52, Hogan confirmed he could still perform. Dressed in his signature red and yellow, and looking in crowning physical condition, Hogan boomeranged the smaller Michaels all around the ring. To smart fans, we knew Michaels was the workhorse. But Hogan played his element perfectly. The way he always did.

That Summerslam match with Shawn Michaels was Hulk Hogan’s last great stand. It was the last great time Hogan performed his signature leg drop. It was the last great time Hogan would do his “hulk-up” routine as thousands of fans popped in excitement. It was the last great time for fans of the grandiose superstar.
