Howard Dean Scream

Howard Dean Scream, Tuesday’s Iowa caucus ended in a near-tie between Republicans Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum, prompting a new wave of analysis over which candidate will challenge President Barack Obama for the White House.

Eight years ago, Howard Dean was a front-runner going into the Iowa caucus when the former Vermont governor ran for president. The Democrat had money, endorsements, and a huge online grassroots effort, but he ended up third in the caucus. And then came the so-called Dean Scream where he tried to rally a defeated crowd of supporters. It seemed to end his chances at the White House.

Dean says the unpredictable GOP race and polling are similar to what was going on during his bid back in 2004.

“It’s rough and tumble politics and it’s interesting to see the Republicans doing what the Democrats did and that’s be incredibly disorganized,” Dean said. “It’s very much like what was going on eight years ago for me.”

Dean says he believes of all the Republican candidates, Jon Huntsman would give President Obama the biggest challenge in the election
