Brooke Shields $10,000 Per Day As A Model, By the age of 16, Shields had become one of the most recognizable faces in the world, because of her dual career as a provocative fashion model and controversial child actress. Time magazine reported, in its February 9, 1981, cover story, that her day rate as a model was $10,000. In 1983, Shields appeared on the cover of the September issue of Paris Vogue, the October and November issues of American Vogue and the December edition of Italian Vogue.

During that period Shields became a regular at New York City’s nightclub Studio 54. In 2009, a nkd picture of Brooke Shields, taken when she was 10, and included in a work by Richard Prince, Spiritual America, created a row. It was removed from an exhibition at the Tate Modern after a warning from the police.

Brooke Shields has been in the public eye for her entire life. She booked her first professional job when she was 11 months old, and Ford Models launched their Children’s Division to handle the amount of work she was booking separate from their adult clients. She shot her first film, “Pretty Baby”, when she was 11. Her role, as a child who grew up in a brothel, featured multiple nude scenes, and created quite a bit of controversy. Three years later, she would become the youngest model to ever appear on the cover of Vogue Magazine, and by the time she was 16, she was pulling down $10,000 per day as a model. She has gone on to appear in various films and television series, has written a number of successful books, produced film and television projects, appeared on Broadway, and recently launched her own line of jewelry. She has also battled depression, body image issues, and all of the other ugliness that comes with growing up in plain view of the public.

Due to her incredibly busy schedule (and a mother who was determined to make her daughter a star), Ms. Shields rarely had one home for any length of time. She was constantly flying from one city to another, or one country to another, and consequently, much of her housing was a temporary rental, or an apartment provided by a production company or client. When she settled down to raise her own family, she made a concerted effort to make her place a home, as opposed to simply a space in which to sleep.
