Shane Battier

Shane Battier, In other trade, Memphis hung with the Indiana Pacers to pull another case, in the latter sending OJ Mayo. In return, the Grizzlies picked up a first round pick Josh McRoberts and before, give them another chance to win the project selection traded to Houston earlier in the day. McRoberts might be someone who gives a lot of value on the bench for the Grizzlies, as well, making almost a wash in the category of immediate value. For fans of Mayo, this may not seem like an even trade, but Memphis was ready to move forward without Mayo, which seems to have been the best option on the table.

In the final minutes of what looked like it was going to be a trade deadline without problems for the Houston Rockets, Daryl Morey decided to pull the trigger on two deals (so far) that the Rockets have landed their man coveted with great potential and assumed a back up point guard. Houston will be negotiating Shane Battier and his expiring contract back to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for # overall pick last season and Hasheem Thabeet a future round of choice.
Overall, all stakeholders with the exception of Shane Battier could use a change of scenery. Thabeet is not going to be our new starting center and he will not change the fate of the Rockets this season or next. He is about as raw as they come, but he is 7’3 “and turned the blocking skills.
The departure of Houston I will say this – Aaron Brooks just is not panning this season. His ego got the better of him and he made a fool of himself on a team that prides itself on professionalism. He did not do well with or without the blindfold and I think trading him was the right decision. Shane Battier will always be a rocket. He was a true professional and the most eloquent Rocket we had here in Houston in ages. His defense may have declined slightly, but it is still one of the top wing defenders in the league. Shane and intangible assets, we will miss this season in Houston.

Houston Rockets, The Houston Rockets PG Aaron Brooks dealt to the Phoenix Suns’ Goran Dragic PG and a choice of any lottery protected first. Brooks is expected to take charge of safeguarding the rights of Phoenix point guard from Dragic, playing behind Steve Nash.

“I’ll wait in line,” Brooks told the Houston Chronicle. “(Nash) is a legend, MVP and a Hall of Famer? I’m ready to go to be behind him and learn from it, just go and help the team. It gives me a fresh start. I’m ready to go. “

Earlier reports said Thursday the Rockets have discussed trading for Minnesota Brooks Johnny Flynn, but they decided to take the matter instead of Phoenix, according to the Chronicle. Because the draft picks as part of the operation is lottery-protected, the Rockets get the pick acquired from Orlando Phoenix Suns if do not make the playoffs.

Shane Battier has not been able to ignore the constant trade rumors. They have used before in Houston, playing with his mind and game.

Soon, the conversation ends. The deadline is near.

Battier cannot wait until it passes.

“What I intend to or not, at least I will have peace of mind,” he said.

Reserve Chase Budinger scored a career-high points, including 11 directly into the fourth quarter, and Kevin Martin added more as the Rockets opened the unofficial second half of the NBA season with a 124-119 victory Cavaliers Cleveland on Wednesday night.

As the trade deadline approaches Thursday night, Houston was stated very well in the market and seek to acquire players. In the recent past, the Rockets have been active participants in trade negotiations NBA quietly acquiring young talent.

Earlier this season, the Houston Rockets acquired Terrence Williams New Jersey Nets. And shipped backup shooting guard Jermaine Taylor in the Sacramento Kings for a second-round draft protected. In exchange for Williams, Houston sent a draft lottery protected in 2012 in New Jersey.

Aaron Brooks

Aaron Brooks, By acquiring Flynn, the Rockets would send Aaron Brooks packing disorder. Flynn, despite playing minutes per game this season, had a solid rookie season where he averaged 13 points and five assists for the Wolves. On the reverse, Brooks is ideal for the Timberwolves, and he would probably start his first game in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. He is averaging 11.6 points per game in minutes per game for the Rockets this season, but shot a terrible 35 percent on the field. Flynn morale would be great for the Rockets; his character is much larger than that of Brooks. In turn, Brooks would be happy despite playing for a team worse because of his playing time increases.

(AP) – The Rockets point guard Aaron Brooks sent to Phoenix and forward Shane Battier in Memphis in separate agreements Thursday that guard Goran Dragic to center Hasheem Thabeet and Houston, according to a person familiar with the specific trades. The Rockets also get first-round pick two teams and rookie guard vessel Ish Smith to the Grizzlies. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Rockets have not officially announced the trades. Houston is -31, 11th in the Western Conference. The General Manager Daryl Morey said in recent weeks that virtually every player on the list was at stake for the main trades of the deadline on Thursday. Battier and Brooks have contracts expiring after this season, the products coveted for teams looking to create salary cap space. But in acquiring 7-foot Thabeet-3 and Dragic, the Rockets split with two of the most popular players of the team among fans. Brooks was a first-round pick by the Rockets in 2007 and has excelled in the playoffs of 2008-09. The 6-low average of .8 points and 3.4 assists, and Houston has failed a second round upset of the Lakers in Los Angeles. He was honored as most improved player in the NBA in -10, but a sprained ankle has limited his production earlier this season and he found himself in a reserve, backup Kyle Lowry.
