Caleb Hanie

Caleb Hanie, The Chicago Bears had a real emergency on Sunday against the Packers in Green Bay, which is “the job description of Caleb Hanie.” Otherwise, a quarter of undrafted 25-year-old state of Colorado would have ended up a footnote, at best, in the tradition of including greater rivalry in the NFL.
Instead, the Bears’ third stringer almost made a comeback for the ages, if not fatal to two interceptions in the fourth quarter that doomed
Chicago 21-14 victory in Green Bay NFC match championship.

“You do not expect to come and play one day like this – especially the NFC Championship Game,” Hanie said. “It’s just how it goes sometimes.”

The first interception was returned 18 yards for a touchdown by Green Bay nose tackle BJ Raji cons with 6:04 left in the game, giving the Packers a lead of 21-7. The second, a pass intended Bears receiver Johnny Knox, was sacked by cornerback Sat Shields to the Packers 12 with 47 seconds remaining.

“People say,” Congratulations, “(but I) threw two picks,” Hanie said. “It’s the only time you will get a compliment when they do not expect you to do something. ”

The Packers prevailed at Soldier Field to advance to Super Bowl XLV in Dallas.

That just happens to be hometown Hanie.

Although Hanie all questions answered coolly, Bears No. 1 signal caller Jay Cutler stayed in the locker room and did not formally address the news media. Asked by the journalist away the bear, “Cutler quickly left the locker room. It was released in the third quarter with a knee injury suffered late in the first half, finishing with six goals for 80 yards and an interception.

Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher defended Cutler. “Jay has been injured. I do not question his toughness,” said Urlacher. “It is one of the best player on our team.”

Second-stringer Todd Collins took over and threw four incomplete, and coach Lovie Smith and offensive coordinator Mike Martz had seen enough.

Hanie entered the game with 57 seconds remaining in the third quarter and the Bears trailing 14-0. At the end of 32 yards to set up Knox Bears first touchdown, a 1-yard run by Chester Taylor.

After the interception Raji, Hanie commandeered the Bears downfield, firing a strike from 35 yards hit in Earl Bennett that cut the Packers’ lead to 21-14.

“We had the opportunity of a tie,” said Smith. “This was done with Caleb leading us. Can not complain about his game at all.”

It was quite the performance by Hanie, who had been demoted to the No. 2 slot earlier in the season. He completed 13 of 20 passes for 153 yards.

“I like to think I do not need this type of motivation, but when you get demoted, you still have a little extra fire in you to come back and show they have made the wrong decision,” he said.

Both teams started strong and held dear life to win their conference titles. Pittsburgh increased by 24-0, but needed a goal line stand to finally silence the Jets. The Packers took the lead by two touchdowns on the Bears, who nearly took it out with Caleb third string quarterback, Hanie”le first return. Originally from near Forney, Hanie was a conquering hero returning home, he went off the rally. Instead, an interception in the final minute sent the guy from “Titletown USA” packing for Dallas.

All Super Bowls are a huge deal, especially when a city or stadium is home for the first time. Well, this time, you also have to remember that we are more things in Texas – like the budget committee to come home and in about 40 million, making the year about 16 million and has spent the last Miami look like chicken feed.

Things are spread here, too. The Steelers are staying in Fort Worth, Irving and the Packers at all media events will be in Dallas. Oh, yeah, the game itself is in Arlington. Therefore what is technically called the North Texas Super Bowl?
