Golden Globe Nominees

Golden Globe Nominees, It was a good day to be Ryan Gosling and George Clooney. It was a better day than yesterday to be The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Gosling and Clooney were among the top—and repeated—Golden Globe nominees, while the much-hyped, but SAG-snubbed David Fincher film got back in the game, to a point. A look at what went down:

In the glamour Best Motion Picture, Drama category, the Clooney-directed political drama The Ides of March will go up against the Clooney-starring dramedy The Descendants.

The Help, Martin Scorsese’s Hugo, Moneyball and Steven Spielberg’s War Horse were nominated, too, despite their lack of a certain silver-haired multihyphenate.

In other Clooney news, the star was nominated for Best Director (Ides of March), Drama Actor (The Descendants) and Best Original Screenplay (Ides of March).

Gosling, who was shut out at the SAG nominations, but otherwise has been an awards-season player, will go up against Clooney, his Ides of March costar, for Best Drama Actor.

In a mild surprise, Gosling’s also nominated for Best Comedy-Musical Actor, for the previously unheralded Crazy Stupid Love.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, meanwhile, which has run hot and cold, was warm-ish at the Globes.

The film picked up two nominations: one for Original Score, and one key one for breakout star Rooney Mara (Best Drama Actress). But it failed to rate in any of the other big-boy categories, including director, screenplay and film.

Golden Globe Nominations 2010

Golden Globe Nominations 2010:Golden Globe Nominations 2010 are announced, and the nominees are excited. The 2010 Golden Globes will be held on January 17th, 2010 on NBC starting at 8/7 c. There were plenty of expected nominations, as well as many surprises. Here is information on

the 2010 award ceremony that many will tune in to on January 17th.

The nominees were announced by Justin Timberlake, John Krasinksi, and Diane Kruger this morning at 5:00 am at the Beverly Hilton. It was an exciting morning for all that will be involved in the awards ceremony.

Avatar has been nominated for Best Motion Picture – Drama. Avatar has gained a lot of popularity over the past couple of months. The movie, directed by James Cameron, is expected to be something along the lines of “the future of movies.” Previously, Cameron was best known for Titanic, but the visual effects of Titanic are well eclipsed by that of Avatar. James Cameron has also been nominated for Best Director- Motion Picture for his role in Avatar.

Disney’s The Princess and the Frog is also up for the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film. The Princess and the Frog is also gaining a lot of popularity, as it is the first African-American Disney film. Considering Disney’s rich history, this is a very big first for the company.

Dexter, which just ended its 4th season with the ultimate cliffhanger has been nominated for the Golden Globe – Best Television Series (Drama). After the season’s ending, many are very, very anxious for the 5th season of the show to begin. There will be a huge change in landscape as one of the main characters will no longer be in the series. Michael C. Hall has also been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his role as Dexter Morgan.

Among other nominations that I am personally excited about are Jeremy Piven’s Golden Globe nomination for his role as Ari Gold in “Entourage”. Piven is a very vivacious and exciting character.
