40 Year Old Virgin Stabbing, (AP) – An actor who appeared in the movie “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” was sentenced Thursday to life in prison with possible parole in 12 years for stabbing his ex-girlfriend more than 20 once when he stopped by his house and found her with another man.

Shelley Malil was convicted in San Diego County Superior Court Judge Harry Elias three months after a jury found the actor attempted premeditated murder and assault with a deadly weapon. The victim, Kendra Beebe, suffered punctured lung and injuries to the neck, chest, back and arms in the attack, 2008.

Sitting in court, apologized for stabbing Malil and Beebe said he wanted to go to jail.

“I want to do what I gotta do so I’m right from wrong I did,” he said.

“Kendra Beebe did not deserve what happened to her. … I can not even begin to imagine what she experienced,” he added.

Before the sentencing, Beebe also told the court about the physical and emotional pain she suffered.

“Despite the stabbing he inflicted, I’m alive,” she said, going on to say the testimony was not credible Malil.

“During the trial it became obvious that he was an actor, but not a very good actor to whom. Her testimony was lie after lie after lie,” she said.

The sentence is eligible for parole in 12 years Malil, but the Attorney Keith Watanabe said Malil could be released in as little as nine years, taking into account time already served and good behavior.

Malil, 45, testified at trial that he visited Beebe at his home in San Marcos in the suburbs of San Diego in August 2008 to apologize for taking personal belongings from his house and to warn that e- mail sexually explicit pictures of the couple to his co-workers. He was stabbed with a kitchen knife after finding her wine to drink with another man.

The couple began dating in 2007, when Beebe responded to personal ads online and had a tempestuous relationship, authorities said. Two days before the attack, Malil stranded Beebe and his cousin at the beach, stole the marijuana and other elements of his house and locked out of his house.

Malil – who played Haziz, a colleague of Steve Carell character in “The Virgin 40-Year-Old” – has faced a maximum sentence of life imprisonment without possibility of parole for 14 years.

His lawyer argued that there was no doubt Malil went too far when he picked up a kitchen knife and began stabbing Beebe, but said Malil never intended to kill the woman. The defense also questioned the credibility of Beebe as a witness and described it as a drama queen violent tried to make men jealous.

The jury found the actor of the two most serious charges, while acquitting him of residential burglary.

Prosecutors said Malil Beebe quarreled with the day before the attack; she was beached on the beach and steals the marijuana and other items from his house.

Malil fled the house after neighbors heard the cries of Beebe. He was arrested the next day at Amtrak station in nearby Oceanside.

After conviction, Beebe said she believed justice was done and she hoped the apology was sincere Malil.
