Gingerbread Houses, Gingerbread houses are an annual holiday tradition for our family. We make gingerbread houses at home and in a community library program. I just registered to make gingerbread houses at the library next Thursday.
We love to make gingerbread houses and eat the candies along the way. I remember when my children made their first independent gingerbread houses in preschool. They were so proud of the milk cartons transformed into gingerbread houses with crackers and gum drops.
I live to buy gingerbread houses in kits. It makes it easier since we don’t eat the house anyway. I use gingerbread houses as centerpieces in my dining room and living room. Gingerbread house kits are usually about $10 to $25. You can find them at major retailers such as Kmart and Walmart as well as specialty shops.
Homemade gingerbread houses are beautiful. I have a friend who runs estate and tag sales. She makes homemade gingerbread houses for her valued clients. It is a delightfully traditional way to express gratitude for their business. I’m not quite as enterprising myself…
I do look forward to receiving a free kit at the library to make one of our gingerbread houses. We’ll listen to Christmas Music Online Free, nibble on candy and build a gingerbread house as a family. Gingerbread houses are all about tradition.
Do you make gingerbread houses for the holidays? What type of gingerbread houses do you create?
Here’s a video about how to make a gingerbread house from YouTube:
