Garmin Nuvi Recall, Yesterday Garmin issued a voluntary recall of 1.25 million Nuvi GPS navigation devices, of which about 800,000 have been sold in the U.S.. According to information published in the notice, the recall was issued due to a defect in the batteries overheating caused them and brought the potential for fire damage.

The Garmin Nuvi recall affected models are easy to identify, these are the models of 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT, where xx is a two-digit number. However, Garmin has made things easier for all who think you have an affected product. On their website they have added a form that can enter the serial number of your product and tells you whether you hit or not.

Once you identify your product and know that is affected, you must return it to Garmin and replacing the battery with a new and insert a spacer at the top of the battery to the side of the PCB to avoid any problems. It will then be returned to you, all for free.
