Muammar Gaddafi Is DeadMuammar Gaddafi Is Dead, Muammar Gaddafi has been killed as his hometown of Sirte was invaded by combatants who seek to complete the eight-month uprising in Libya, the interim prime minister has announced.

The former dictator died of wounds in the head and legs. It was unclear whether he was beaten in a NATO air strike on a convoy fleeing Sirte, a shooting at the ground or in concrete tunnels in the city itself.

Later, the United Kingdom representative said Gaddafi of Libya was alive when he was captured and died in an ambulance en route to the city of Misrata.

Libya’s prime minister, Mahmoud Jibril, in a press conference in Tripoli: “We’ve been waiting for this moment for so long, Muammar Gaddafi, has been murdered.”.

A U.S. official said the leaders of Libya had confirmed the death of Washington, the Associated Press reported to 15:15 UK time.

In London, the charge d’affaires of Libya, Nacu Mahmud said in a press conference it was “a glorious victory and transcendental.”

“Today the future of Libya starts. Qadhafi was black has ended forever,” he said. “The Libyan people are looking for a bright future in which they can finally begin to build a free and democratic state for which they fought for about eight months. Our people have paid a high price. About 40,000 martyrs who gave their lives the freedom of their country.

“We appreciate the assistance of the international community to get rid of Gaddafi and his crimes.”

Previously, images that show what was said to be the body of the dead and bleeding Gaddafi appeared on television as officials from NATO and the U.S. tried to confirm his death. Some showed that it was dragged through the streets of Sirte.

Gaddafi son Muatassim also reported to have been killed or captured in Sirte, the strength of the pro-Gaddafi. Later he said have been covered in blood, but alive. Another son, Saif al-Islam, is said to have been surrounded after fleeing Sirte.

Gaddafi’s body was taken to Misrata. A large crowd surrounded the vehicle as it came the cry of “the blood of the martyrs will not be in vain.”

The first reports of the capture of Gaddafi came shortly after noon, UK time and in an hour not to say that he was dead.

Hillary Clinton, U.S. Secretary of State, said that if the rumors were true it a sigh of relief, as another obstacle has been removed. Even before the confirmation that Gaddafi, who ruled Libya for 42 years, was dead, Senator John McCain, who lost to Barack Obama in the last presidential election, called it “the end of the first phase of the Libyan revolution.”

Gaddafi was wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of ordering the killing of civilians.

“We must also remember the many Libyans, many of those who died at the hands of this brutal dictator and his regime. People in Libya today have an even greater opportunity, after this news, building a future for themselves strong and democratic.

“I am proud of the role Britain has played in helping make it happen and I pay tribute to the courage of the Libyans who helped liberate their country. We are going to help, we will work with them is that I want that today. ”

Jim Swire, whose daughter Flora died in the Lockerbie bombing, said a “lost opportunity” to discover the truth about the atrocity.

He told Sky News: “There is much still to be resolved on this issue and Gaddafi, whether involved or not, might have been able to clarify some points about that and now he is dead may have missed an opportunity to closer to the truth.

“Although not a shred of evidence that Gaddafi was involved in the cause of the Lockerbie atrocity, my opinion on who was going to have at least knows who did it.

“I would have liked to have seen Gaddafi appear before the International Criminal Court, to respond to the accusations against his rough treatment of his own people and foreign citizens killed by his thugs.”

Russian presidential envoy to Libya Gaddafi warned that death can not end the conflict in Libya.

“The current problem is not the problem Libya of Qaddafi’s life or death,” said Mikhail Margelov, according to news agency ITAR-Tass. “This is a problem of consolidating the fragmented Libyan society and strengthening the armed forces.”
