William Hart Bank Of China, William Hart, 37, sales manager of Bank of China International on the island, was in the flashlight, a bar on the seventh floor of five-star Fullerton Bay Hotel, when he thought he had fallen onto a metal rail and glass barrier.

About people were in the bar on the roof when he fell around 23:25 last Thursday. The case has been officially classified as a “natural death” and a police spokesman described it as “mysterious and they need a full investigation.”

Mr. Hart’s body was found by the disaster assistance Singapore Civil Defence Force and divers of the emergency team at the bottom of the Singapore River after a search of two hours.

The Foreign Ministry said it was assisting the family of man.

A spokeswoman said: “We can confirm the death of a British citizen in Singapore on 7 April.

“We are in contact with his family and are providing consular assistance.”

Giovanni Viterale, hotel general manager, said Britain was involved in a group of four.

It is believed that one of them is a friend who was visiting from Canada.

While it is unclear how Mr. Hart fell, one theory was that he jumped in a game of challenge.

When asked if staff had noticed him climbing over the railing, Mr. Viterale said: “Unfortunately not, or would have taken immediate action and preventive.”

Mr. Viterale added: “The safety of our customers is always a priority for us and our security staff at the bar on the roof over our hours of operation.”

Police do not suspect any foul play and have not arrested anyone in connection with the incident.
