Free Pumpkin Carving Stencils, We have done our fair share of simplistic pumpkin carving – two triangles for eyes, one for the nose and an open line irregular mouth. Put in a candle and have a nice looking jack-o-lantern. A few years ago I made a pumpkin carving kit, which brought things to a whole new level. There was now a spatula spoon pumpkin carving saws and templates.

Oh, templates! A flamingo and palm tree etched in my pumpkin? A haunted house? Stencil a message like “BOO” or “Happy Halloween”? The possibilities were endless! Our first foray into the pumpkin stenciling was a bat. It turned out pretty well. We turn to more difficult designs and found that it was hard to go wrong. Here are some tips:

Cut around the top of the pumpkin at an angle toward the inside so that you can then use the cut piece as a cover.
Clean the inside of the pumpkin by scraping the inside. Save the seeds for roasting later.
Tape the template to the flatter, softer side of the pumpkin.
Use a nail or poker to make small holes that will outline the template. We have successfully used a dry erase marker can be deleted when finished.
Remove the template and carefully cut along the holes or lines. The use of different-sized knives and saws can help. Do not worry if not perfect. You can fix things as you go.
When the carving is finished, apply petroleum jelly on all cut edges to preserve his masterpiece.
If you put a candle in the jack-o-lantern, a little cinnamon and nutmeg sprinkled on the inside of the pumpkin lid creates a wonderful aroma. Instead of candles, flashlights considered small, battery operated tea lights or chemical lights.
