Food Recalls, Blount Fine Foods Recalls Crab Soup over Labeling Fault: It has been revealed that one of the products of the Blount Fine Foods has been called back due labeling error. Some of the 16-ounce cans of the Rip Roarin’ Crab Soup does not have clear distribution of milk, wheat and crab on the back of the tin.

This happened as during the process of the production, some of the units got mistakenly printed as Manhattan clam chowder. This created the confusion and mistakenly omitted the milk, wheat and crab ingredients.

Though the company has said that they realized this mistake before it got dispatched, there can be some dispatches which would have reached to shops. They have asked the consumers to not to have it if they have allergy from any of the material. Their instructions on the website of the Food and Drug Administration have revealed the product code, which is, 71116, as well as the lot number 1202117D and is best consumed before 2nd February 2012.

The company has asked to check the given details first then purchase the unit. All the three products are listed as some of the major food allergens that have been specified by the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act.

If one has allergy from any of these three products, but have mistakenly consumed the product then it could be quite risky for their health. Health experts said, “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, wheat or crab run the risk of suffering serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product”.

Till now, no reported incident has come forth, but those who have had the soup must contact their respective GPs. The company said they would be giving full refund to their consumers and assures them that such mistake would not happen again.
