Light Field CameraLight Field Camera, There are a lot of enthusiasm for the Silicon Valley company and its new vision Lytro photograph – the light field technology allows different parts of a picture taken to be shifted in and out of focus.

The company held a press conference in San Francisco this morning to give out your first camera, he said he would go on sale next year, from 400. A live blog of the event is after the jump.

11:30 Ren Ng, CEO and founder shows up and tells us to display the first light field camera, which describes it as a camera of 3.0 after the film and digital photography.

11:35 a.m. He described how he went to 30,000 in 2004 to develop a camera that can take pictures with adjustable focus – the development of his work at Stanford. Shoot first, focus later, is the idea.

11:40 a.m. shows us several photos of in and out of focus shots – raindrops on a window of the hotel in New York in the approach was changed to a clear focus on previously blurred the skyscrapers outside. There is potential here for professional photographers, creative and interactive tables of life for the rest of us.

11:45 So let’s see the first consumer camera. It is a matter exceptionally compact form of orange and black like a box of perfume in length, with an 8x optical zoom. Inside is a light field sensor that captures 11 million light rays. There is a color touchscree glass, shutter button and zoom control on the outside. Two other colors are gray and electric blue graphite to fetch their aluminum skin, which is combined with a rubber grip. It is not instant on, instant shutter shooting, but included no flash. There is a USB port hidden behind a door for the transfer of images.

11:55 a.m. How to share these pictures? Fill a box with software up to Lytro.com Lytro where photos can be seen. Or share them on Facebook, which appear in the National Association of Magistrates and you can play with regard to zoom and move parts of the image in and out of focus.

24:00 memory is 8 GB or 16 GB, the camera has a long life lithium battery, the transport is initiated in early 2012, the cameras can be booked in advance from today Lytro.com. It is a truly revolutionary product, said Ren, so how do we price? Speculation is 999, he says. But it will be to 399, he says, for the 8 GB version and 499 for 16 GB – Red Hot color I thought it was orange. The blue and gray are the versions of 8 GB.

24:05 So that’s it. I’m not convinced this is as desirable as Lytro think this is. It could become so fashionable for digital photos as the Flip video made by consumers, and 400, but is a lot for a pretty basic camera tricks beyond approach. I would like to see the technology incorporated as an option in the regular cameras. Maybe that’s where the future Lytro. To see a demo.

PS: I am a little impressed, Lytro has excellent 3D capability. I talked to the designer, who held the camera and tried to take pictures. It still seems a bit gimmicky shooting square framed by its touch screen, but the engineering and product quality is excellent. There is a ribbed rubber slider unusual to approach and what really goes on and off instantly. The processing of the picture of the different approaches also seems fast.
