Fibre Optic Broadband, Broadband was restored to Yarmouth, Ventnor and Freshwater at around 10:40am this morning, following yesterday’s outage.
This was caused by a fault in an underground fibre cable about 20kms from Southampton, BT told VB, saying that it affected about 900 users on the Island. The cable wasn’t underwater, but on land.
It seemed strange to us that areas a long distance apart – Ventnor and Yarmouth/Freshwater – were all affected. BT’s response was that the particular cable only served those locations.
