Emergency KitsEmergency Kits, With Hurricane Irene on the way to the East Coast, with its increase of wind, rain and storm, it’s time for everyone to check their emergency supply kits and stock up on items they need.

This is what the Federal Emergency Management recommended that you save in a disaster supply kit:

Three-day supply of nonperishable food.
Three-day supply of water – one gallon per person per day.
Portable, battery radio or television and extra batteries.
Flashlight and extra batteries.
First aid kit and manual.
Sanitation and Hygiene (moist towelettes and toilet paper).
Matches and waterproof container.
Whistle.
Extra clothing.
Kitchen accessories and cooking utensils, including a can opener.
Photocopies of credit cards and identification.
Cash and coins.
Special needs items such as medications, eyeglasses, contact lens solution and hearing aid batteries.
Items for infants such as formula, diapers, bottles and pacifiers.
Other items to meet your unique family needs.
Jacket or coat.
Pants.
Long-sleeved shirt.
Sturdy shoes.
Hat, gloves and scarf.
Sleeping bag or warm blanket (per person).
