Embarrassing BodiesEmbarrassing Bodies, We are very down to watch TV medical reality. Give us a half-ton man or a guy whose hands are like trees and we’re happy a clam. So we were delighted when our editor passed along a link to a British series of performances called “Embarrassing Bodies.”

With a title like that, you can only imagine. Before clicking on the link and view video clips, be forewarned: There are graphic images – even in a medical context – some of which are much more explicit about what we are used to seeing in the U.S.

The show is more or less what you think: people with embarrassing health problems to seek treatment. In addition to “Bodies embarrassing,” there “Embarrassing Teen Bodies” and “Embarrassing Bodies:. Kids”

When we saw some of the clips, we think the show alternates between voyeuristic and informative, and we were not alone. We asked Dr. Camelia Davtyan, clinical professor of medicine at UCLA, I thought. “There were lots of good pictures,” he said, “and much of what I saw was definitely helpful in terms of graphics get the details if anyone is interested. But it all depends on how you look. You can go a little too far to try to make it interesting. “Like, oh, for example, pictures of hemorrhoids very large to a fungus or nail a horrible woman or actual surgical procedures.

But Davtyan agree that the program can be a catalyst for people with similar health problems potentially embarrassing to seek help from a doctor. “That’s part of what we are taught in medical school,” he said, “that the human body is the human body and has a large amount of variation and disease. From the beginning we are (students) are sensitive to the fact that many patients do not forward the information. “Physicians want patients to know they will not be judged for revealing uncomfortable issues and there can be solutions to the problem.

Davtyan also said that although the site offers health-related help links are based in Britain and can provide different information than what is available in the U.S. Also, take the advice posted by regular guys in the forums with a grain of salt. If you are looking for medical advice, go see a doctor.
