Celebrate your own National Doughnut Day

Everyone knows that donuts are not exactly the healthiest of snacks. Celebrating National Doughnut Day does not have to mean visiting Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Dunkin sites or locations. Instead, you can try making your own donuts. It is not as difficult or scary as it sounds, and you can make a variety of your favorite donuts. Start by creating a basic sweet dough, then just fry it and top as desired. If this is your first time doing donuts, try this recipe:

* 1 egg
* 1 / 4 cup sugar
* 1 / 4 cup honey or agave nectar
* 1 / 2 cup milk or almond milk
* 2 tablespoons butter
* 2 cups flour
* 1 1 / 2 teaspoons baking powder
* Ingredients: cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar or glaze or whatever else your heart desires

Combine all wet ingredients, then stir in the flour and baking powder. Place dough in the refrigerator or freezer until cool enough to work, then cut out into shapes you would like, about 1 / 2 inch thick. Fry the fritters in vegetable oil 375 degrees for several minutes. Drain the fried fritters, then sprinkle gelatin, or frost with your favorite filling. It’s that easy. To mix up, try adding carrots, pumpkin, spices, or even instead of milk Chai. His office loves it!
