Sela Ward, Sela Ann Ward (born July 11, 1956) is an Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning American film and television actress, perhaps best known for her television roles as Teddy Reed on Sisters American series (1991-1996) and Lily Manning on Once and Again (1999-2002). She recently joined the CBS drama CSI: NY, as a series regular Jo Danville.
Ward was born in Meridian, Mississippi, the eldest of four children born to Annie Kate (nee Boswell), a housewife who died of ovarian cancer on February 12, 2002, and Granberry Holland “GH” Ward Jr., an electrical engineer who died January 13, 2009.  She has a younger sister, Jenna, and her two brothers, Brock and Granberry (Berry) III.

Ward attended the University of Alabama, where she played as one of the Crimson Tide cheerleaders, was the queen returned, joined Chi Omega Sorority, and a double major in art and advertising.

Since May 23, 1992, Ward was married to Howard Sherman. They have two children, Austin (b. 1994) and Anabella (b. 1998).

After meeting with two adopted children during a trip back from vacation in Mississippi in 1997, [10] Ward has decided to meet a wider need for abused and neglected children by initiating and funding a portion of creating an emergency shelter for those waiting in foster care. Set on 30 hectares (120,000 m2) property once used as a Masonic orphanage owned and operated the Village Hope for Children has opened in the hometown of Meridian in the district in January 2002 and is intended as a pilot for a national network similar shelters. Hope Village currently has a capacity of 44 residents and serves an average of 200 children per year [11].

A portion of the business district of the 22nd Avenue in Meridian (from 6th Street to the interchange of Interstate 20) was named “Sela Ward Parkway” in honor of Ward [12].

In 2002, Ward has published her autobiography, Homesick: A Memoir, by HarperCollins imprint, ReganBooks.
