It’s all in the name of fun as the Red Bull Flugtag, which means “flight day” in German, brings the adventure game to Philadelphia for the first time.

The Red Bull Flugtag in Vienna was founded in 1991 by Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz fellow, an Austrian. It has since held more than 80 times in over 35 cities.

Two weeks ago, the Flugtag in Long Beach, California, drew a crowd of 105,000. This weekend event will be a bit like a carnival, with food and drink suppliers dot the shore.

At each event, several teams start their homemade creation of a driveway 30 feet above the water. The goal is to fly, glide or minimize the judges, which include remote teams to impress, the craftsmanship of their rig and show the team.

Barton’s team, called the Stork Dork, no problems with the show part. They have planned an opening dance to the song “That’s the Way (I Like It)” by KC and the Sunshine Band before Metallica’s “Whiplash” takes the four other guys on the team Barton’s push it on top of homemade stork 100 meter before he sails over the edge of the driveway on (and eventually) River.

The team, which is about 300 man-hours spent on the project, expects more than 100 friends and family to travel north to watch the spectacle. They are spreading the word through their Facebook page – Search “Dork Stork” to find. And team supporters, the text of the Stork Team Dork song, Team12, “to RBULL (72 855) between 11 hours and 15:30 today, Saturday for the People’s Choice Award Craft.
