Diane Keaton Woody Allen, Diane Keaton reveals in her new memoir, “Then Again,” that she developed bulimia while dating Woody Allen in the late ’60s and early ’70s, according to The Daily Mail.

“The demands of bulimia,” the now-65-year-old actress writes, “outshone the power of my desire for Woody. Pathetic, but true.”

Keaton said she became bulimic 1968 at age 22 while performing in the Broadway musical “Hair.” She’d make herself go home and throw up after dates with Allen, after consuming “barely imaginable quantities of food,” which she says usually included Kentucky Fried Chicken, French fries, TV dinners, candy, a Sara Lee pound cake and three banana-cream pies–all in one meal. Lunch was three steaks with charbroiled fat, two-and-a-half baked potatoes with sour cream, apple pie and two chocolate sundaes with nuts.

Allen, trying to help, sent her to a psychoanalyst, whom she saw for 18 months until she began eating normally again at 25. By then, she had developed irregular periods, low blood pressure, heartburn and 26 cavities. She dated Allen for five years and went on to star in many of his films, including “Play It Again, Sam;” “Annie Hall;” “Sleeper” and “Love And Death.” They remain friends to this day, according to the Mail.
