Dennis Quaid Affair, Meg Ryan: The actress, pictured this month, claims her ex-husband Dennis Quaid cheated on her, Meg Ryan’s ex-husband Dennis Quaid has angrily hit back at the actress after she accused him of cheating on her throughout their marriage.

The actress spoke out last week after years of silence after years of being portrayed as the homewrecker due to her brief affair with Proof Of Life co-star Russell Crowe in 2000.

The 46-year-old film star opened up about her failed marriage in a revealing interview with Insight magazine last week, in which she accused Quaid of adultery.

She said: ‘Dennis was not faithful to me for a very long time, and that was very painful. I found out more about that after I was divorced.’

Quaid, who shares custody of the couple’s 16-year-old son Jack with Ryan, said: ‘It was eight years ago, and I find it unbelievable that Meg continues publicly to rehash and rewrite the story of our relationship.

‘Also, I find it regrettable that our son, Jack, has to be reminded in a public way of the turmoil and pain that every child feels in a divorce.

‘I, myself, moved on years ago and am fortunate to have a happy, beautiful family.’

Quaid is now remarried to Texan estate agent Kimberly Buffington and the couple have 11-month-old twins Thomas and Zoe.

For years Ryan refused to discuss her personal life with interviewers, despite being criticised for her affair and the subsequent break-up of her marriage.

She now says she thinks her decision to hide Quaid’s infidelity harmed her public image. ‘I think I made a mistake in not talking more specifically.’

Despite this Ryan does not regret what happened.

She continued: ‘I am not a victim. I was there. I was in that marriage for a really long time. Some days you think, This is so crazy, and you are all intellectual about it. And other days, it’s just really, really painful.

‘I think when things get played out that simply in black-and-white, it makes people feel good… The tabloid culture can’t tell a complicated story.’

Ryan adds that there were positive points about her sudden change in popularity.

‘I didn’t have to care about what people thought. I could…be totally under the radar and live my life.’

In the interview, Ryan also talks of her love for adopted Chinese daughter Daisy True, three.

‘I don’t feel like I adopted a child,’ she said. ‘I feel like I just got this unbelievable companion.

‘As mysterious and magical as it is to have a baby you gave birth to, I have that exact same thing with Daisy. I feel like we made some agreement, long ago and far away, to meet in the way we did.’
