Demarco Murray Injury

Demarco Murray Injury, The Dallas Cowboys suffered a brutal loss to the New York Giants Sunday evening, but they suffered a bigger loss as running back DeMarco Murray was likely lost for the season with a broken right ankle and high ankle sprain. Murray suffered the injury in the first quarter after only five carries and was immediately taken back to the locker room where x-rays revealed the fracture.

Felix Jones, only recently back from his own high ankle sprain, took over the rushing duties and put together a strong performance in relief of Murray. Jones rushed 16 times for 106 yards an caught six passes for 31 yards. He will be the starting running back the rest of the way as the Cowboys are actually out of additional running backs right now. They will likely sign at least one and maybe two free agents, but Jones is the guy moving forward.

For Murray, it ends what had been turning into a fantastic rookie season. Murray dealt with injuries in college, so this is not shocking, but it doesn’t make it any easier to swallow. The big question moving forward for fantasy owners is how the Cowboys plan on handling their running back situation in 2012.
