Daylight Saving 2011, Tonight is the night of California to set clocks back one hour, and fire department officials say the time change is a good reminder to change batteries in smoke detectors.

Like 47 other states, California will “fall” one hour at 2 am Sunday when daylight saving time ends and the state withdraws from the Pacific
Standard Time.

The only states that do not comply with daylight saving time are the majority of Hawaii and Arizona.

Firefighters and FEMA also urged people to use exercise semi-annual clock change as a reminder to remove and replace the batteries in smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and flashlights evacuation.

The battery changing ritual should include checking that the device has not passed any expiration date, and cleaning the dust from the slots or sensors, the agencies said.

The Auto Club of Southern California, also warned that the time change can lead to some drowsy drivers on the roads, because of interrupted sleep cycles and before sunset and darkness.
