Mary Kom, MC boxer Mary Kom India beat his old rival Steluta Duta of Romania 16-6 in the final to win the title of his wife’s historic fifth round of the boxing world today.

The Manipuri boxer had beaten Alice Kate Aparri Philippines in the 48 kg category yesterday to reach the final, while Kazakhstan Boranbayeva Nazgul exceeded Duta 10-5 in the semifinals to book a clash with his old rival summit.

By winning the title clash, Mary Kom, the former Khel Ratna awardee, the only boxer to win a medal in each edition of the World Championship. In the last two clashes with Duta, Mary had defeated Romania 22-7 in the final of the 2006 World Championships held in New Delhi, while in the 2008 World Championship final held in the city of Ningbo, China, India Duta beaten 7-1 to grab the gold medal.

It was the sixth World Cup Mary Kom, a mother of two children. She has bagged a silver medal in his first world cup and after that has claimed four consecutive gold medals at the prestigious tournament. However, another boxer from India Kavita (+81 kg) has lost the semi-final match against Ukraine Kateryna Kuzhel 2-14 and settled for the bronze.
