Dan Gilbert Letter

Dan Gilbert Letter:CLEVELAND – On Thursday, the Cavaliers majority owner Dan Gilbert is committed to bringing an NBA championship before LeBron James Cleveland wins one. Your Rock Ventures Inc. is also moving ahead with a 600 million U.S. dollars to downtown casino “sooner rather than later.”

Companies spokeswoman Rock ‘Jennifer Kulczyki told Channel 3 on Thursday that Gilbert has to choose an operator of casino games in their future here and in Cincinnati, but “we’re still making those decisions.”

Another such decision is the opportunity to open a “temporary” casino in Cleveland in the former Higbee department store in the public square.

Kulczyki said Gilbert is planning to make these two decisions “sooner rather than later, probably sometime this summer.”

Cleveland’s casino is scheduled to open in mid 2013, while its casino in Cincinnati, as well as Penn gambling casinos in Toledo and Columbus, are scheduled to open in 2012.

The delay for the site of Cleveland is in large part by issues in obtaining the land for the casino site behind Tower City owner Forest City Enterprises.

Although no official plans have been released, the casino $ 600,000,000 has been described as an elegant building, largely window with two main entrances to Huron road, with big squares and rows of shops and restaurants that surround it.

As for opening a temporary casino earlier in the Higbee building, Kulczyki Gilbert said is “still evaluating this opportunity seriously.”

And Gilbert eye on play opportunities in Northeast Ohio are not limited to the operations of casinos.

Companies Rock is at stake to participate in the operation of the racetrack Thistledown in North Randall also “sooner than later.”

On 23 June, the Ohio State Racing Commission approved the sale of $ 43 million Thistledown Circuit Harrah’s Entertainment, according to the OSRC.

The committee heard an officer of Harrah’s, the same day that the agreement is already in the works of Companies Rock to become one of the owners – or, possibly, a future full-owner – Thistledown, the commission said.

Thistledown and six horse racing tracks in Ohio could become an excellent location for the installation of slot machines.

Also on June 23 Penn Gaming was approved to buy Circuit Beulah Park near Columbus, for $ 37 million, the ORSC said.

Last year, there was a plan to add slot machines – known as “video lottery terminals – all Ohio race tracks.

In July 2009, Gov. Ted Strickland proposed to add 17,500 slot machines at seven race tracks. The legislature approved the plan and the terminal would be operational in May 2010.

But then a group called LetOhioVote filed suit against the plan, saying that Ohio voters had to approve the plan.

They gathered enough signatures to place the issue on the ballot, but in November 2010, just two days after the approved ORSC circuit offers, LetOhioVote asked that the issue be removed from the ballot in Ohio.
