Dallas White Rock Marathon, Trinidad and Tobago’s Tonya Nero continued her good run of form this season, finishing ninth in the women’s race at the 2011 MetroPCS Dallas White Rock Marathon, in the United States, yesterday.

Making her marathon debut, the 23-year-old runner completed the 26.2-mile course in three hours, four minutes, and nine seconds. The national record is 2:47:18, clocked by Deborah Snaggs back in 1987.

Nero was second in the women’s 20-24 category, behind 22-year-old American Mackenzie Howe (2:57:28).

Nero, who holds national records in the half marathon (1:15:42), outdoor 5,000m (16:19.17) and 10,000m (33:11.71), and indoor 3,000m (9:30.10) and 5,000m (16:26.42), was 87th overall in yesterday’s race.

Kenyan John Itati won the men’s race in 2:17:21, while Russia’s Natalya Sergeyeva triumphed among the women in 2:35:19.
