Cost Of 12 Days Of Christmas, The cost of 12 Days of Christmas has spiked above $100,000 for the first time since PNC Wealth Management first began compiling the annual Christmas Price Index. According to the Associated Press, buying all 364 items mentioned in the carol “The Twelve Days of Christmas” is 4.4 percent more expensive than it was last year.

Specifically, the $101,119 price tag would buy you 12 drummers drumming, 22 pipers piping, 30 lords a-leaping, 36 ladies dancing, 40 maids a-milking, 42 swans a-swimming, 42 geese a-laying, 40 gold rings, 36 calling birds, 30 French hens, 22 turtle doves and 12 partridges in pear trees. The AP noted rather humorously that the cost does not include bird maintenance.

For those looking to save on the 12 Days of Christmas, buying one set of each verse in the popular Christmas carol comes to about $24,263. The price is more manageable, but still shows a 3.5 percent rise from last year’s holiday season.

PNC Wealth Management’s managing executive of investment told the news agency that while the price on the Christmas song has risen, its escalation is nothing compared to the 9.2 percent jump from 2009 to 2010.

“The story in general is wages are still a very sluggish part of this economy,” Jim Dunigan said. He noted that some items, such as the five gold rings, even declined in price from $650 to $645 this year.
