College Football Bowls

College Football Bowls, “It’s the most wonderful time … of the year.” Well, assuming you’re a couch potato. Beginning in two weeks, prepare to be bombarded with the first of 35 college football bowl games – ranging in importance from the national championship game between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama on January 9 to the “Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl” on December 31 (a game which features UCLA – a team with a losing record).
The total number of games will remain in place for the next two seasons as the NCAA imposed a three-year moratorium on new bowl games last season. And yes, in case you’re wondering there were actually two bowl-eligible teams that did not receive invitations to play this postseason – Ball State and Western Kentucky.
Oh … and if you’re wondering why so many games typically played on January 1 have been bumped back a day, it’s because January 1 falls on a Sunday.
