AP Poll Top 25

AP Poll Top 25, Those of us who vote in the AP Top 25 turned in our final regular-season ballots of the year this morning. There was nothing touch about the top choice, LSU, as the Tigers ran roughshod over Georgia in a second-half performance as impressive as has been seen in a conference title game.

After that is where the controversy begins — and one thing to keep in mind is that the AP poll is not included in the BCS formula. People who have followed my poll all year know I’ve been high on Oklahoma State throughout — I had them at No. 5 in my pre-season poll, higher than anyone else in the nation and something for which I got a few questioning e-mails. The Cowboys Saturday again lived up to the hype, and compelled me to move them past Alabama — I had moved Oklahoma State behind the Tide after the loss to Iowa State.

Oklahoma State simply has more “quality” wins than does Alabama — wins over five teams in last week’s BCS Top 25 compared to two for Alabama. And it’s loss — while not to LSU, obviously — is hardly an embrassment, especially considering the circumstances.

Here’s my ballot:

, LSU
, Oklahoma State
, Alabama
, Stanford
, USC
, Boise State
, Oregon
, Wisconsin
, Arkansas
, South Carolina
, Kansas State
, Michigan State
, TCU
, Michigan
, Baylor
, Clemson
, Georgia
, Southern Miss
, Virginia Tech
, Houston
, Oklahoma
, Nebraska
, Penn State
