CO2 Synthetic Trees

CO2 Synthetic Trees, Heather Nackley and the rest of the family are ready for the real deal. Nackley, 48, of Hollidaysburg has celebrated Christmas with the same artificial tree she and her husband, Dan, purchased 20 years ago in Wilkes-Barre. There are plenty of memories associated with the tree, too.

Nackley said she can remember when her two oldest kids, a 17-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter, were just babies and the family was living in a small rental apartment, where the space wasn’t too accommodating for a full-size tree, be it authentic or artificial.

“My husband only put up half the tree, which is a really good benefit of an artificial tree,” Nackley said. “He only put the half that faced out and he kind of bolted it to the wall – because we didn’t have a lot of space – so that we got the effect of the tree.”

An artificial tree certainly does allow a family to be more flexible when it comes to presentation, but after 20 years, Nackley said she’s ready to switch to the real thing next Christmas. Besides, the fake tree is starting to get “worn out,” she said.

“You take each of the branches on and off and what you have to do is kind of straighten out the ends because they get crushed down into the box,” Nackley said. “Through years of having to unbend the branches and trying to make them look as natural as possible, they’ve gotten real spindly. They don’t look natural at all.”

For Evelyn Bookhammer, owner of JB Tree Farm with her husband, Curt, the idea of using an artificial tree has probably never crossed her mind. She said she’s been involved with the farm since she was a baby when her parents bought the farm in Alexandria.
