Closest SupernovaClosest Supernova, Astronomers have discovered a bright supernova near the Pinwheel Galaxy, M101, 21 million light years away, which happens to be lying in the Big Dipper. They say the closest supernova of its kind found in forty years. Astronomers from the University of Oxford joined his colleagues in the Palomar Transient Factory collaboration and use a robotic telescope to make the discovery of the supernova – a supernova, which, interestingly, had no trace of champagne, but was found in the sky, at least.

Dr. Mark Sullivan, head of the Oxford team, said the discovery is a supernova type 1a supernova, which happens to be the kind of supernova that astronomers use to measure the expansion of the universe. The supernova, called PTF11kly continues to grow brighter, to the extent that may be visible with binoculars within ten days, with the best possible time to see the bright star, exploding in the sky “just after twilight Later in the northern hemisphere, in a week or so an hour. ”

Science Daily says that scientists have discovered Palomar Transient Factory more than 1,000 supernovae, and which began operating in 2008, but PTF11kly believe could be the most important of the supernovae discovered due to its proximity to facilitate the analysis and study.
