Christian Ponder VikingsChristian Ponder Vikings, After his first start as a rookie quarterback in the NFL, 23-year-old Christian Ponder put his hands in the pockets of his jeans and became his own harshest critic.
“I made some personal mistakes that were crucial, put this loss on me, but the players around me played exceptionally well and kept me in it,” he said after thinking quarterback the Minnesota Vikings 33-27 in the loss of Aaron Rodgers and Super Champion Green Bay Packers.

But while key Ponder threw two interceptions in the third quarter, started the game with a big pass on his first play and shook intercepts battle to the finish and give the Vikings (1-6) a chance to beat the champions (7-0).

“He never got down on himself. He continued to make plays that needed to be done … what really gives us hope for the future,” said Vikings coach Leslie Frazier, who put the first-round pick ( 12 overall) in the lineup to replace struggling Donovan McNabb veterinarian.

Ponder, Florida State whose career overlapped the era of Tim Tebow of Florida, once again, not getting the attention Tebow did on Sunday at his home for the Denver Broncos (a victory in overtime to Denver). Ponder had a beginning but much better than Tebow.

Reflecting on the first game was initially considered a touchdown pass 73 yards to Michael Jenkins. Upon review, Jenkins was ruled by him as a dove zone. Ponder followed with a touchdown pass of 2 yards to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe.

“One by one, for a touchdown was exciting, but for a 2.2 TD was good enough,” said Ponder.

The two interceptions in the third quarter both were made by Packers cornerback Charles Woodson. One of them was at the Minnesota 45, and another 35 of the Vikings. Both are defined field goals, six points was fundamental.

Ponder statistics were not impressive (13 completions in 32 attempts for 219 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions). His 58.2 passer rating of 146.5 compared with no Rodgers.

But Ponder competed. He led a series of 93-yard touchdown that pulled Minnesota to 33-27 halfway through the quarter-finals. The transmitting end with 24 yards to Jenkins.

“He (Reflect) definitely made some plays. I was shocked,” said nose tackle BJ Raji the Packers.

Think hard Woodson intercepted twice, said the Vikings helped with a lot of pitches.

“They let him keep alive plays with his feet, and he did a lot of good things for them,” said Woodson.

With 2:30 left and three timeouts, the Vikings cleared 20 of the Packers. The idea was to stop the Packers and retrieve the ball. But the Packers were able to run the clock.

“I really thought we could leave and avoid running the football,” said Frazier.

He asks’ from debut in a day when Adrian Peterson ran for 175 yards and a touchdown for Minnesota. Frazier said the big step to open the game, against a defense that had nine players clustered near the line, helped open the running game.

But unlike Tebow, meditation was not playing against the winless Miami Dolphins. He faced the defending champions and Rodgers.

Although the Vikings led 17-13 at halftime, Rodgers took a 20-0 in the third quarter by Green Bay. He finished 24-30 passing for 335 yards and three touchdowns, no interceptions.

“You know, there is not much panic in this team. We have been a couple of times at halftime,” said Rodgers.

Rodgers worked against a Vikings secondary depleted by injuries and the weekend arrest of cornerback Chris Cook on domestic violence charges. In his touchdown reception of 79 yards in the third quarter, the Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings was so open that ran the last 45 meters.

“It’s hard to put these. You do not want to under-shoot, shoot down,” said Rodgers. However, he added, “I like gimmee beings.”

In the game, Rodgers and scrambled fake bomb spot just before the band Jennings.

“Aaron gives great confidence in the person who called the game,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy. “… And that’s a great comfort to have as a coach with Aaron Rodgers running this offense.”

Now the Packers have Rodgers calls it a “nice, little” bye week.

“I mean we’ve reached the maximum of our victories so far and our opportunities,” said Rodgers. “But I think we can play a little better.”

Minnesota visits the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

“I think it’s good just to get the experience of four quarters below the belt,” said Ponder. “Obviously, I had a lull there in the third quarter I have to learn and not let it happen again.”
